www.isecom.org - PROJECTS & RESEARCH - Extensible Security Document Language

XSDL - Extensible Security Document Language PROJECT MANAGER: THOMAS JONES

XSDL, the eXtensible Security Document Language, is a markup language to develop, store and exchange data objects for security documentation.

Through the use of the industry standard Extensible Markup Language (XML) and it's associated security technologies; we are presented with the capability to define and regulate data types, limiting constraints, and authorized structure of data objects commonly found in security documentation. By limiting these facets of the structured data objects utilized in today's security technologies, the complexity and cost of security administration are reduced greatly. Furthermore, the return on investment of security technologies such as the Open Source Security Testing Methodology are increased exponentially.

Technically, this language presents a security practitioner with industry standardized digital signature, authentication and encryption algorithms to secure the derived structured data objects and/or documents. Which results in providing the security practitioner the assurance that sufficient logical access control may be constructed and observed over each structured data object independently or collectively. Conceptually, this presents the security practitioner the ability to reduce encumbering security administration overhead and can now focus their attention entirely on the acquisition and applicability of data objects and their content.
